Dune House
Steps to the Atlantic Ocean...
A new addition of a second story to an Amagansett house prompted a new landscape for the property. A dune is created with native grasses, blueberry shrubs, pitch pines, chokeberry and amelanchiers. The new dune ties into the surrounding eco-type but also conceals an above grade septic field for the enlarged residence. Generous seating steps leading up to the dune activate the front lawn for mini-soccer matches, and the kids run through the dunes to play.
Entry to the Dune is through a beachy garden with lavish and contrasting foliage of deer resistant shrubs, grasses and perennials. The shrub border added bayberry and hollies to tie into local native communities and create a dense privacy screen.
