is a landscape gardening blog exploring ecology, environmental challenges, designed landscapes, horticulture and gardening.

Flora refers to the plants that co-exist in a particular place, forming an ecological community. Botanic pays tribute to the cultural construction of nature, the long history of passion to find the world's most captivating - beautiful and productive - plants. These two currents are often set in conflict, with native plant crusaders at odds with traditionally horticultural approaches or less than pure ecological goals.  My landscape thoughts are in constant orbit around these ideas of environmentalism and aesthetics, of nature and culture. Through this blog I hope to explore them - not reconcile them, but navigate a coherent path to find landscapes that are lyrical, transformational and tied to place.

They built a #topographicalmodel and just this week made #collages with plants from our local #hudsonhighlands #plantcommunities all in view with opening tomorrow, Friday, @44main 4-7pm.
